lyrics

you woke up from some kind of dream
the kind where the people you meet are your friends
but they are totally backwards and end over end
caught in a landslide of furious sin
yes you're having that dream again.

you fell into this bed headfirst
eyes wide and drunk in some rock and roll skirt
caught up in an evening of longing or worse
this romantic curse
this forgotten landmine
we were doing so well for such a long time
yes we were doing so well for such a long long time

and these city kids they don't have a clue
they didn't grow up, grow up like me and you
they're all spoiled and well fed half wicked and half dead
caught up in those nothings that creep into their head
and their world is only 3 miles wide
and their world is only 11 miles high

while I'm drawing these lines in the sand
take a good look at the cards in our hand
'case this city is folding beyond our command
and if hearts are rent controlled and we're all just real estate man
let's come up with some kind of plan.

this is a letter from Fresno, California
it was written for a girl who was leaving in the morning
it was written in a rush
in a panicked sunrise hush
it was written from me to you
I hope you're doing well and that you'll always, you'll always stay cool with me
I guess we'll have to wait and see
'cause you're never with the person or quite in the place
that you thought that you wanted to be

about

Rademacher California

At turns wry and censorious, Rademacher uses its rough-hewn indie rock — barbed-wire guitars, funhouse keyboard lines, Mancillas’ shout-sung vocals — to dissect what it’s like to make rough-hewn indie rock.
